Comics
Riot's comic series, one-shots and motion comics.
About comics
Riot has published comics through several routes: full series with outside publishers, one-shots tied to a champion release, and motion comics animated in-house. They are collected here regardless of which route produced them, because the canon does not distinguish.
Comics carry a particular kind of weight in Runeterra. They are long enough to follow more than one character and visual enough to establish what a place looks like, so several regions had their appearance fixed by a comic before any cinematic showed them.
Motion comics sit between the comics and the cinematics — drawn panels with camera moves and voice acting — and are indexed here rather than with the animation.
The printed series are the longest continuous narratives Riot has published, and they resolve things the shorter forms only gesture at. Several characters have their defining sequence in a comic rather than in their own biography.
Availability is the catch. Some ran through publishers and are out of print, some were released free online and then taken down when the microsite that hosted them closed. Where a work is no longer hosted by Riot, the entry records what it was rather than pretending it is still a click away.
How this index is filed
Every entry below is a work Riot published, linked to the original rather than summarised. The list is filtered the same way the rest of the Archive is: champion spotlights, cosmetic adverts, tournament recordings and storefront promos are filed out, so a search for comics returns comics and not a battle-pass trailer that happens to carry the same tag. What you see is the filtered set, not everything the database holds.
Each work is also filed by the zone it belongs to and placed on the in-world timeline, so the same entry can be reached three ways — by form here, by place from the zone pages, and by date from the timeline. Ordering here is by publication, newest first, which is the order Riot released them rather than the order they happen in.
The rest of the Archive
The archive is one set of works cut several ways. Comics is one form; the indexes below hold the others, and every entry in all of them is filed by zone and placed on the in-world timeline.
The Archive of Runeterra is the full index, the timeline puts it in in-world order, and the codex wings describe the world these works are set in rather than the works themselves.
