Events
In-world events and seasonal storylines.
About events
Seasonal events are how Runeterra marks time. Each one runs for a few weeks, carries its own art, music and usually its own short fiction, and then does not return in the same form — so an event is both a story and a date stamp.
Some are in-world festivals the characters themselves observe, like the Lunar Revel or Snowdown. Others are alternate-universe takes with no canon standing at all, like Battle Queens or Project. The archive keeps both, because the second kind is frequently where a skin line was first introduced.
Events are a useful spine for reading the rest of the archive: most of the short stories, cinematics and skin trailers published in a given year were attached to one of them, and the timeline places the in-world ones in order.
Events are also the most perishable thing Riot makes. The client art comes down, the mode is retired, the microsite closes, and what remains is whatever was archived while it was live. Several entries here are the most complete public record of an event that no longer exists anywhere Riot runs.
Reading them in order shows the shape of a year: which regions were being built up, which characters were being set up for a release, and which alternate universes were being tested for an audience before Riot committed to them.
How this index is filed
Every entry below is a work Riot published, linked to the original rather than summarised. The list is filtered the same way the rest of the Archive is: champion spotlights, cosmetic adverts, tournament recordings and storefront promos are filed out, so a search for events returns events and not a battle-pass trailer that happens to carry the same tag. What you see is the filtered set, not everything the database holds.
Each work is also filed by the zone it belongs to and placed on the in-world timeline, so the same entry can be reached three ways — by form here, by place from the zone pages, and by date from the timeline. Ordering here is by publication, newest first, which is the order Riot released them rather than the order they happen in.
The rest of the Archive
The archive is one set of works cut several ways. Events is one form; the indexes below hold the others, and every entry in all of them is filed by zone and placed on the in-world timeline.
The Archive of Runeterra is the full index, the timeline puts it in in-world order, and the codex wings describe the world these works are set in rather than the works themselves.
