Rank Runeterra
A tier list is an argument you can look at. This is the ranking board for Runeterra — the world Riot is building its MMO in, and the world the rest of this archive documents. Drag what matters to the top, leave the rest at the bottom, and share the result as its own page. 33 ranking boards are ready to open.
Rank the world of Runeterra
The champions are not a roster here, they are figures in a world: an exiled Demacian, a Noxian general, an Ascended god-emperor, a wraith bound to the Black Mist. Ranking them means deciding what you think matters about Runeterra — power, story, design, or how much of the world a single character carries on their own.
Four ways in. Rank every champion at once, on one board with the whole world on it. Rank one region, which turns the board into an argument about that nation. Rank by lore, grouping the full pool region by region in canonical story order so the board reads as a tour of the world. Or rank a lore-cutting set — the Void's spawn, the Darkin, the Ascended of Shurima, the Arcane cast, the Aspects of Targon, the Black Mist — each one a slice of the mythology that ignores borders entirely.
The thirteen regions
Runeterra is thirteen regions, and each one is a different ranking problem. Open a region below to read what it is before you decide where it belongs.
- Demacia — A kingdom that outlawed magic and then bred champions who need none — rank them by how much of the law they are willing to break.
- Noxus — An empire that promotes on merit and punishes on merit. Every Noxian board is really an argument about what strength is.
- Ionia — Balance, vengeance and the long shadow of an invasion. Ionia splits any ranking cleanly down the middle.
- Piltover — Progress with a patent on it. Rank the City of Progress by who actually built something and who merely funded it.
- Zaun — The undercity below the promise. Chem-barons, grey-market surgeons and the people they experimented on.
- Freljord — Three claims to one throne, in a land that kills the loser. A Freljord board is a succession crisis.
- Shurima — The Ascended, the Darkin and the desert that buried both. Rank the god-emperors against the weapons they became.
- Ixtal — The elemental arts, guarded by an isolationist jungle nation that has never needed the rest of Runeterra.
- Bilgewater — No law, no navy, and a monster economy. Rank the port by who would survive a night on the Slaughter Docks.
- Targon — Mortals who climbed the tallest mountain in the world and came back carrying a star. Rank the Aspects by their hosts.
- Shadow Isles — The Black Mist and everything it kept. A Shadow Isles board ranks the dead by how much of themselves they held on to.
- Bandle City — A spirit realm that does not obey geography, and the yordles who wander out of it into everyone else's stories.
- The Void — A hunger below reality. The Void has no members, only appetites, and ranking them is ranking extinction events.
Ranking boards by game
Runeterra reaches players through several games, and each one brings its own assets to rank — cards, units, items, augments, skins. These boards draw from those sets. They are not the MMO, and they are not the archive; they are the pieces the games put on the table.
