Tools for Runeterra

RuneGrove is the reference archive for Runeterra, the world Riot is building its MMO in. These are the tools that sit alongside the archive: things you use to argue about the world, to play in it, and to carry it with you. Everything listed on this page is built and running today.

They are all free, they all work without an account, and none of them touches a live match. What we will not build is set out at the bottom of this page.

The tier list maker

The Runeterra tier list maker is the tool most people come here for. It is a drag-and-drop ranking board: pick a starting set, drag what matters to the top, and share the result as a page anyone can open. You can rank every champion of Runeterra at once, rank a single region's roster, rank the thirteen regions of Runeterra themselves against one another, or pull a lore-cutting set — the Darkin, the Ascended of Shurima, the Black Mist — and rank that instead. 33 ranking boards are ready to open, drawing their assets from League of Legends, Legends of Runeterra, Riftbound, 2XKO, Teamfight Tactics and Wild Rift. 1 board has been published and shared so far, so most of Runeterra is still unranked.

That is a sample. Every board the tool ships with is listed on the tier list hub, along with the regions and the lore-themed sets, and you can start from a blank board and load your own images instead.

Mini-games

The RuneGrove mini-games are short, browser-playable pieces set in Runeterra — no download, no account, no launcher. They run on the same page you open them from, they save locally, and they are built around corners of the world the archive already covers, so a run through one is also a way into the lore behind it.

The RuneGrove app

Add RuneGrove to your home screen and it behaves like an installed app: its own icon, full-screen launch, and no browser chrome between you and the archive. There is nothing to download from a store — it is the same site, installed. The page walks through it for iOS, Android and desktop.

What we will not build

We are regularly asked whether RuneGrove will ship in-game overlays, add-ons or real-time assistive tools. The answer is no, and it is worth being plain about why.

Any software that gives you real-time, adaptive recommendations during a match is an advantage over players who do not run it. We draw no line between a wallhack and an overlay that reads your game state and tells you the optimal build path — in both cases the tool is making the decision the player should be making, and the match is no longer between the two players. Beyond that, these tools take away the part of a game that is worth having. Learning to read a match, adapting mid-fight and improving through repetition are the game. When software does that for you, the add-on is playing and you are watching.

So everything here works outside the match: preparation, reference, argument and play. That is a deliberate limit, not a gap in the roadmap.
