About skin trailers
A skin line is an alternate universe with its own rules, and its trailer is usually the only narrative that universe gets. Spirit Blossom, PROJECT, Star Guardian and the rest exist almost entirely as a set of costumes plus a two-minute film that explains what world those costumes come from.
That makes skin trailers a strange but real part of the archive. They are not canon in the sense the biographies are — none of it happened in Runeterra — but they are authored, consistent within themselves, and frequently better known than the canon they diverge from.
The 3D model archive holds the skins these trailers announce, so a line can be watched and then inspected piece by piece.
They are also the most reliable index of what Riot is willing to spend on. A skin line that gets a full animated trailer, a music release and a set of in-client events is one the company is building an audience around; one that gets a splash screen is not.
Several of these universes have outlived the skins that introduced them, picking up short fiction, comics and their own music. Where that has happened, the entry links through to the rest of the material rather than leaving the trailer as the whole story.
How this index is filed
Every entry below is a work Riot published, linked to the original rather than summarised. The list is filtered the same way the rest of the Archive is: champion spotlights, cosmetic adverts, tournament recordings and storefront promos are filed out, so a search for skin trailers returns skin trailers and not a battle-pass trailer that happens to carry the same tag. What you see is the filtered set, not everything the database holds.
Each work is also filed by the zone it belongs to and placed on the in-world timeline, so the same entry can be reached three ways — by form here, by place from the zone pages, and by date from the timeline. Ordering here is by publication, newest first, which is the order Riot released them rather than the order they happen in.
