The Battle of Koeshin
The Battle of Koeshin is one of Riot's most ambitious in-client metagames — not a clicker or a card game, but an honest-to-goodness 2.5D beat-'em-up. You play Xin Zhao, the loyal Demacian seneschal returned to his Ionian homeland, and Yunara, a spirit warrior flung back into the material realm.
You hot-swap between the two mid-combo at the press of a button; each carries their own health bar, and when one drops the other tags in. Across three stages — the Mountains, the Forest, and the Port Town — you carve through waves of demonic spirits before facing the Demonic Pretender, a boss wearing the stolen visage of the Grovemother.
Its heart is the Style system, a Devil-May-Cry-style flair meter that rewards varied, airborne, tag-heavy play from C all the way up to S+. Hit S+ and you can call in Spirit Assists — guest summons of Irelia, Karma, Kayle, and Zed. There's even an unlockable co-op Arcade Mode and a full visual-novel side mode, "Koeshin's Courtyard."
"And so expect not the petal to float alone across the meadow, for we must be the wind that carries it."
— Kennen, The Battle of Koeshin (Riot Games, 2025)
How to Play The Battle of Koeshin
| Input | Action |
|---|---|
| W / A / S / D | Move |
| Space | Jump |
| J | Light attack |
| K | Heavy / special (limited charges) |
| L | Summon Spirit Assist (at S+) |
| E | Tag / swap character |
Tag Team
Swap Xin Zhao and Yunara mid-combo; each has an independent health bar, and the partner auto-swaps in when one falls.
Style Meter (C → S+)
Varied, airborne, wall-bouncing, tag-heavy play raises your rank for up to +150% damage; repeating moves loses efficiency and getting hit decays it.
Spirit Assists
At S+ rank, call in Irelia, Karma, Kayle, and Zed for screen-clearing guest attacks, and use Onigiri, Dango, Tea, and Sake to heal or score.
