Heads up: the news here is real and sourced. The read on what it means for the unannounced Riot MMO is ours, and speculative where labelled. RuneGrove covers everything through one lens: what it tells us about the MMO.

What Happened

A League lore YouTuber said he hoped the lore was frozen to set up the MMO, and the MMO's executive producer answered with an eyes emoji and no words.

Necrit's post

  • The creator. Necrit is a League of Legends lore YouTuber with about 155,000 followers on X.
  • The complaint. On October 11 he wrote that he is "so tired of not having anything to talk about."
  • Nine months. He said it has been nine months "since League's lore did something new."
  • The hope. He closed with "I really hope the lore was frozen to set up the MMO or something."
  • The reach. The post drew about 27,000 views, 1,140 likes and 28 replies.

Condominas's answer

  • The reply. On October 12, Fabrice Condominas, executive producer of Riot's unannounced MMO, replied to Necrit with the eyes emoji and nothing else.
  • His role. His X bio reads "Executive Producer @RiotGames, leading the charge on the MMO."
  • Two GIFs. Within half an hour of that reply, Necrit answered with a GIF and Condominas sent one back. Neither post had any text.
  • Reach of the reply. By October 15 the eyes reply had about 630 views and 29 likes.

Four Replies in a Month

Since September 13, Condominas has answered four Necrit posts with the eyes emoji.

  • September 13. Necrit asked, "Oke how do I turn WoW Forever into a Riot MMO video?" WoW Forever is Blizzard's rebuild of the original 2004 World of Warcraft.
  • October 2. Necrit posted, "THE MMO WAS TALKED ABOUT FOR 10 MINUTES!"
  • October 3. Necrit wrote that after buying his wife a 3D printer he had "the undying urge to print a 3D landscape of Runeterra."
  • October 12. The fourth went to his October 11 hope that the lore was frozen for the MMO.

Necrit has covered the Riot MMO before, in a 321,000-view take on WoW Forever.

League's Lore in 2026

Riot has confirmed one new champion for 2026 and a League overhaul for 2027, and the nine months is Necrit's count, not Riot's.

  • His figure. The nine months is Necrit's own count, not a figure Riot has published.
  • Locke. Riot released Locke, a Demacian demon hunter, on June 24, 2026, in patch 26.13.
  • His cinematic. Insider Gaming reported on June 8 that Locke is introduced in a 2D cinematic, "Back from the Brink."
  • One champion. Riot confirmed Locke is the only new League of Legends champion in 2026.
  • League Next. Older champions get visual updates ahead of League Next, the overhaul Riot has set for 2027 (Sheep Esports, March 2026).

Locke's June release and cinematic fall inside Necrit's nine months. His post doesn't say what he counts as the lore doing something new.

What This Means for the Riot MMO

The eyes emoji confirms nothing; what stands out is that the MMO's lead keeps answering the same lore creator.

  • Not a confirmation. Riot has made no statement linking its lore schedule to the MMO, and an emoji isn't one.
  • Where lore lands. If Riot is holding new canon for the MMO, the MMO's reveal is where it would appear. Nothing official says Riot is.
  • Scope unrevealed. Riot has confirmed only that the MMO is set in Runeterra; how much new story it carries is unknown.
  • A team habit. Riot MMO producer Sarah Tudor's five-word post saying it's time to lock in also came with no explanation.
  • Others use words. Riot MMO engineer Orlando Salvatore has replied to fans in plain text, calling "cancelled" fake news.

Our read. Condominas could have ignored the post, or said Riot doesn't plan its lore around the MMO. He sent the eyes instead, to the same lore creator, for the fourth time in a month. That proves nothing about a freeze. It does tell us the MMO's lead is courting lore fans, and doing it through a creator they already follow.
