About League of Legends champions
Every playable champion in League of Legends, with the abilities, base statistics and per-level scaling the game itself ships. The data is read from Riot's own Data Dragon release for the current patch, so an entry changes when the game changes rather than when somebody remembers to edit it.
A champion is also a character before it is a kit. Each entry links through to that character's lore — who they are, which zone they belong to, and which stories they appear in — because the roster is the largest single cast in Runeterra and most of the archive is about them.
Riot reworks champions rather than retiring them, so these pages describe the current version only. For what a champion used to be, the biographies and the developer videos are the record.
The roster is also the clearest measure of how large this setting has become. It passed a hundred and fifty characters years ago, each with a home region, a faction and a place in at least one published story, which is why the champion list doubles as the index of who exists in Runeterra at all.
Where this data comes from
League of Legends champions are read from Riot's own public data feeds rather than typed out or scraped from a wiki. That means an entry reflects the patch currently live: when Riot ships a change, the next collection run carries it, and nothing here is a hand-maintained copy that can quietly fall a season behind.
It also means the gaps are honest ones. Where Riot publishes no value for a field, this database shows none rather than guessing, and where a field exists only in one game's feed it is not invented for the others. The endpoints, their URL shapes and the versioning that governs them are documented in full in the Data Dragon and Community Dragon reference, including the two set identifiers a numeric loop silently skips.
The rest of the League of Legends database
The same data set, cut by kind. Champions is one section; the others below hold the rest of what League of Legends ships, read from the same source on the same patch.
Every entry in this database describes a character, object or place that belongs to Runeterra, and the archive carries the stories they come from. The Archive of Runeterra indexes those works, the timeline puts them in in-world order, and the Data Dragon reference documents the public endpoints this data is read from.
