Garen: First Shield

Riot Games' first-ever League of Legends novella (released December 8, 2020; ~153 pages), written by Riot principal writer Anthony Reynolds. It follows Garen Crownguard leading the Dauntless Vanguard's 'First Shield' on a peacetime expedition beyond Demacia's borders, only for a routine mission to become a desperate last stand when a longtime allied nation is revealed to have fallen under the thrall of a deadly enemy. Ranger-knight Quinn (with her eagle Valor) races to warn Demacia while Garen's outnumbered force holds the line.
